It started as "we need to move before the kids start school" and evolved into a search for the perfect land to spread out and get back to basics, expanding on our love of nature and being outside. We started with some laying hens, bee hives and a garden to feed our family; added some turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner; and then some ducks (because, ducks are ADORABLE). Soon neighbors, friends and family were seeing the benefits of our extras. When friends of friends started reaching out for eggs and meat, we knew we had something!
We're very grateful for the ability to spend so much time with our kids outdoors, teaching them the value of life, hard work and fun on the farm. We believe in waste not want not. In the garden, whatever isn't used is fed to the chickens. When processing our birds, we use as many parts of the animal as possible, composting the rest. Our ever-growing orchard and berry patch is mainly comprised of native North Carolina species.
